General Description

The last of Holland America's Statendam-class ships, Veendam has always had a strong traditional flavor, but its major upgrade in 2009 has transformed the ship into a trendsetter for its class. Now measuring 57,092 tons and carrying 1,350 passengers (up from 1,266), Veendam's enhancements include new lanai and spa cabin categories, a more contemporary look in public areas and cabins, additional dining options and a revamped theater experience. The overhaul has given new energy to this little ship, even while the service kinks were being worked out on my June 2009 cruise.

Dining

As You Wish® Dining -
From a festive five-course affair to a quick, casual dinner for two, As You Wish® dining lets you choose the venues and style that suit you.Seating Times: 5:15 - 9 PM.
Dress: We suggest smart casual dress attire which includes slacks and sports shirt for men and skirt or trousers with blouse or sweater for women. On formal evenings, we suggest a suit and tie or tuxedo for men and a cocktail dress or gown for women. Swimwear and shorts are not permitted.
Costs: No cost, but specialty drinks and alcoholic beverages are at current bar menu pricing.

Rotterdam Dining Room -
The two-tier Rotterdam Dining Room features impeccable service, an extensive wine list, and offers a wide range of dining options such as continental cuisine, vegetarian, and low-carb meals.Seating Times: Breakfast: 7 - 10 AM, Lunch: Noon - 2:30 PM, Dinner: Early: 5:45 PM & 6:15 PM, Main: 7:45 PM & 8:15 PM.

Pinnacle Grill -
The Pinnacle Grill offers a level of sophistication unmatched anywhere on the seven seas. You will enjoy fine décor and a romantic ambiance that sets the stage for fresh dishes and select wines.Seating Times: Lunch: check onboard for hours of operation; Dinner: 5:30 - 9:30 PM.
Dress: We suggest formal attire, which includes suit and tie or tuxedo for men and cocktail dress or gown for women.
Costs: $20 per person charge for dinner; $10 per person charge for lunch. Specialty drinks and alcoholic beverages are at current bar menu pricing.

An Evening at Le Cirque -
(in the Pinnacle Grill)Enjoy the legendary Le Cirque ambiance and award winning cuisine at least one night on virtually every voyage. Dine on unique Le Cirque dishes such as lobster salad "Le Cirque", sweet corn soup and cote de boeuf and finish a fantastic meal with the restaurant's famous creme brulee.Seating Times: Dinner only but check onboard for hours of operation.

The Lido Restaurant features an extensive menu offering favorites such as carved meats, fresh seafood, fruits and vegetables, pastas, and salads, as well as indoor and outdoor seating. Seating Times: Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Check onboard for times.
Dress: We suggest casual attire.
Costs: No cost, but specialty drinks and alcoholic beverages are at current bar menu pricing.

Terrace Grill -
Dine on delicious pizza, tacos, nachos, hamburgers, hotdogs, sandwiches, and refreshing tropical beverages at this casual poolside grill. Seating Times: Lunch time only, times may vary by itinerary.
Dress: Casual attire.
Costs: No cost, but specialty drinks and alcoholic beverages are at current bar menu pricing.

Canaletto -
Adjacent to the Lido Restaurant dining area, the Canaletto Restaurant serves classic Italian fare with tableside service for dinner only. Seating Times: Dinner: 5:30 - 9:30 PM.
Dress: We suggest smart casual attire.
Costs: No cost, but specialty beverages, beer, wine, and soft drinks are at current menu prices.
Reservations are recommended, but walk-ups will be accepted.

Explorations Café -
Enjoy fresh pastries and espresso drinks while reading your favorite book.Seating Times: Check onboard for hours.
Dress: We recommend casual attire.
Costs: There is a nominal fee for all items at the café.

Slice -
Stop on by for a fresh, hot slice of pizza at this pizzeria located just aft of the pool.Seating Times: Check onboard for hours of operation.

Room Service -
